Guard Training is an online platform designed to help our client’s security professionals complete courses, earn certifications, and track their training progress, all in one streamlined solution.
Additionally, there is a paid option where other security companies can use the platform, focused on their specific needs.

HOW GUARD TRAINING STARTED

A security company approached us with a significant problem: they were struggling to manage the training and certification process for their employees. Their current process was entirely manual, involving spreadsheets, email notifications, and in-person training sessions. This method was inefficient, often leading to missed certification renewals and difficulty tracking the progress of individual guards.

WHAT WE AIMED TO SOLVE

The goal was to design an online learning platform that could centralize the training process, allowing guards to take courses, complete quizzes, and earn certificates while offering managers an easy way to track their progress. Given the lack of user-friendly platforms in the security industry, the challenge was to build a platform that would make it easy for their employees, who may not be tech-savvy, to navigate and complete their courses independently.

HOW WE TACKLED THE CHALLENGE

After presenting the idea to stakeholders, I emphasized the platform’s potential for long-term cost savings and compliance improvements, securing approval.

Focusing on simplicity and mobile usability, I designed a clear dashboard for tracking course progress, certification status, and deadlines.

User testing revealed confusion with navigation. Managers expressed a strong need for a simple method to assign team members to courses and easily remove them, while also having a preview of completed courses for each assignee. In response, I implemented a course progress bar, automated reminders, and a certification tracker for both guards and managers, significantly enhancing user engagement. Quizzes at the end of each section improved retention and allowed better tracking of performance.

The positive feedback led to the addition of downloadable certificates. This enhancement not only increased user satisfaction but also aligned with the needs of the stakeholders, propelling the project into full development. :)

WHAT’S THE CONCLUSION?

The development of the Guard Training platform successfully addressed the needs of both guards and managers, leading to enhanced user engagement and satisfaction. With features like a simplified course assignment process and downloadable certificates, the platform is poised to streamline training management and improve compliance in the security industry.

We also managed to decrease the number of errors that occurred with manual certificate assignments, though, due to confidentiality, the exact figures cannot be shared.
